when did we replace the word “said” with “was like”
When it occured to us that “said” implies a direct quote, while “was like” clarifies that you mean to communicate the person’s tone and general point without quoting them word for word.
Anonymous asked: I don't understand the Bataar senior being a sukka kid theory because it looks like Su is Tokka's kid and Bataar Sr. was a random architect Su met in the desert but if the tokka theory is right wouldn't it make them related
Here’s my stance on it:
First: It would be absolutely awful if Su was Sokka’s daughter because, no matter what shippers want to think or come up with, it would mean Sokka never stepped up as a dad. That he was never a part of his child’s life. Sokka, Mr. Justice and Responsibility himself. That’s messed up, guys.
Second: One the Baatars. Everyone flipped out, thinking Suyin had to be Sokka’s kid for a few reasons. One, she had his pipe in her house. Two, she liked meteorite. Three, she has dark skin. Four, her son looks just like Sokka.
Here’s the thing though. She shares that house with her husband. The pipe could be his. The meteorite interest could have been something he shared with her. Dark skin could mean anything; she looks water tribe, I’ll admit, but I mean, King Bumi and the Boulder had pretty dark skin, and they’re clearly Earth Kingdom.
Now Baatar Jr. Yeah, you want to know who else he looks identical to? His father.
Look at them! Just look! You can’t look at Baatar Sr. and Jr. and not automatically think they are not identicle. That would mean, if Baatar Jr got his looks apparently from a grandfather Sokka, it would be on Baatar Sr’s side.
Also, let’s look at a really key thing you said in your ask that betrayed you: Baatar Sr. is an Architect.
Um, hello? Who else do we know that was famous for building new and creative machines? Known for his outside-the-box thinking? Someone who would probably be very proud to pass on these genes, as he got them from his father? Someone who probably could very like raise an architect?
Personally, I think it would be a really clever way for Bryke to try to trick us. We’re given that Su doesn’t know her father and then all these hints surrounding her that remind us of Sokka. Automatically, our eyes are drawn in that direction. I think it’s a Red Herring, though. Su IS surrounded by this, but she also has a live-in husband. To assume EVERYTHING in their shared house is hers would be silly.
Also, we had awkward closeups of Baatar Sr and Jr in the last season. Like, why even see them? And then the obvious similarities between Baatar Jr and Sokka now. I think it’s little clues.
They want to throw us off. I got a feeling, guys, I got a feeling.
aratherstrangeone asked: sukka: do you think well get to see any sukka babies in the future of LoK? (I'm getting impatient waiting bryke!! DX)
I am holding on to the headcanon that Baatar Sr. is Sokka’s child and I’m going to keep stubbornly holding on to it until we are proved otherwise—
—in which case I WILL throw a tantrum.
It makes me sad when people dismiss Mai, Ty Lee, and Suki as stupid, because they’re really, really not. The fandom is generally pretty good at seeing character complexities, but these three get kind of overlooked because they’re not the main characters, even though Suki…
